Some local shrimpers say state and federal shrimping regulations are hindering their business, but industry experts say foreign competition is to blame.
Florida's gulf coast shrimping industry has been cut in half in the last decade. In 1994, there were 5,000 Florida-based shrimp boats in the Gulf. That number's down to 2,700 now.
And with high fuel prices and overseas competition, industry experts don't expect the market to improve
