Florida motorists are getting the full benefit of an $0.08 break on a gallon of regular gas and getting even a little bonus. That's from AAA South, which is based in Tampa and is monitoring gas prices daily.
The month-long tax break began Sunday and gas stations and their suppliers are required to pass the tax break on to consumers.
But there could be a time lag because of the inventories of gas distributed to stations before the tax break began Sunday.
The average savings on a gallon of regular gas hit the $0.08.3 mark mid-week, AAA reported Thursday. That was up a penny from the first report of $0.07.3.
The information is based on a survey of nearly half of Florida's 11,000 gas stations.
