Bay Medical Center announced its plans Tuesday to build a brand new, state of the art medical building on Back Beach Road just east of Beckrich.
The 29,000 square foot building will take the place of the original Bay Medical Center facility on Middle Beach Road. Its main use will be as a diagnostic center offering x-rays, CT-scans, open MRIs and ultrasounds.
The difference between the old building and the new is the availability of specialists in addition to primary care doctors.
Construction of the $9.5 million medical building should begin in November and is expected to be ready for use by fall 2005.
The building that's being used on Middle Beach Road will stay opened until the completion of the new one.
