Engine problems forced a pilot of a banner plane to make an emergency landing on the beach.

Neither the pilot nor anyone on the beach was injured when the Cessna landed between the jetty and the pier around 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

The pilot, 25-year-old Sam Severe, dropped the banner in the Gulf near the Regency Condominiums. When he realized he couldn't make it back to the landing zone on Back Beach Road he glided over to the state park to look for a quick place to land.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office responded and has since turned the investigation over to the FAA.
