The debate over relocating the Panama City Bay County International Airport is getting closer to finalization. Bay County commissioners unanimously approved a settlement over the proposed airport site.
Late December they approved a land use plan known as a Detailed Specific Area Plan, or D-SAP, for the relocation project.
In March, some residents and environmental groups challenged the D-SAP, but now there's a compromise. The St. Joe Company will provide an independent counsel to the county to buy land in the West Bay Preservation Area.
The settlement still has to be approved by the Airport Authority at its next meeting.
