Panama City physician Dr. Freddy Williams will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
A federal judge handed the life sentence to Dr. Williams Wednesday at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Panama City.
Several months ago a federal court jury took just three hours to convict Dr. Williams on 94-counts.
Prosecutors said Williams sold painkillers, like Oxycontin, to anyone who would pay the price. They also say at least 2 of those patients died from overdoses, although Williams was not charged with those claims.
He had to forfeit 12-thousand dollars in cash, which investigators found during the initial raid on his office last year. But, they did allow him to keep his home in the Sandy Creek area for his family.
Williams begins serving the life in federal prison sentence immediately.
