Late Wednesday, Governor Rick Scott vetoed legislation that would have put guidelines in place for the awarding of alimony.
Among the provisions, no one married under eleven years would have been entitled to an award, and even in long term marriages, alimony would have been limited to half the number of years of marriage.
Scott says he was also concerned about people seeking new hearings if he had signed the bill.
Thousands of people contacted the Governor, who just celebrated his 41st anniversary.
