Tragedy struck again at a Jackson County lumber business. A few weeks ago, a huge fire damaged one of the kilns at Rex Lumber in Graceville.
Around 3:00AM Thursday, two employees were severely injured in one of the warehouses. They were working on a machine full of blades used to strip the trees.
News Channel 7 was told, the workers were taking out some of the blades when the machine suddenly began to spin. It threw one worker across the warehouse and trapped the other inside of the machine for about 30 minutes.
One was life flighted to Bay Medical Center and the other to a hospital in Dothan, Alabama. Both men have undergone surgery and at last word, were both listed in critical condition.
Jackson County Fire Marshal, Chuck Sawyer said Jackson County crews, along with Graceville first responders arrived to what Sawyer said was likely a hectic scene. "Anytime you have an industrial accident, thank goodness you don;t have them that often, but when you do have them, they are a bad scene" he explained.
Rex lumber officials wouldn't comment but said they would release a statement soon.
