Mariana police say the teenage girl at the center of an attempted abduction investigation made the whole thing up.
Police got a call at 7:55 Monday night about the alleged crime. A 14 year old girl claimed an Hispanic male dragged her from a bathroom at the MERE complex and took her to a wooded area. But she said she somehow managed to escape and call for help.
Tracking dogs were called to the scene but could not find a track or scent.
Turns out, the attempted abduction never happened. Police say the girl made it up because she did not want to tell her parents what she was really doing last night.
Police want to assure everyone the MERE complex is a safe place.
