Washington County Sheriff's Deputies are searching for a man in Cottondale Thursday night in-connection with an alleged kidnapping.
Their suspect is 26-year old Christopher Cruz Walley. Walley is suspected of severely beating a young woman, then holding here against her will in the trunk of a vehicle.
Thursday night Deputies were searching a number of places for Walley, including the area near his home on Corbin Rd., West of Cottondale.
Investigators say Walley was driving the victim in his car yesterday, when he allegedly attacked her, beating her unconscious with an expandable police baton, known as an asp. When the woman woke-up, she says she was in the trunk of the car.
Authorities say Walley drove around with the woman in the trunk all day and night, and into the day today, before she escaped around 1:00PM Thursday afternoon on Eloise Rd.
She's in the Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley as of Thursday night in critical condition.
Washington County Deputies, State Troopers and U.S. Marshals are all looking for Walley. The Sheriff's Office is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.
This is not Walley's first brush with the law. He was about to complete probation for robbery and felony driving convictions. Authorities say he's also been arrested for a previous kidnapping, but was never formally charged.
