Aviation Exhibit at Science and Discovery Center

We first introduced you to "Team Up" last year as they were preparing for a cross country race. Now the three "Flying Grandmas" are teaming up for a new adventure launching an Aviation Exhibit at the Science and Discovery Center.

Aviation is such an exciting part of stem education and we really hope that we snag them into want to do better in those subject in general whether they go into aviation or something else... This we hope is the spark to get them to enjoy it,” said Leah Dunn.

Months of planning and hard work have paid off.

NewsChannel Seven’s Meredith Terhaar got inside one of the most exciting parts of the exhibit, there are 2 T-34 cockpit trainers. Meredith can put her hands on the controls and levers. It's a pretty exciting place to be.

Used by the Navy at Whiting Field, the team calls the trainers their "secret weapons" to engage visitors in the exhibit and beyond. There is much more to see and do.

“Here we have a flight simulator or trainer we’ll have some instructions right here that will tell our children to put the key in and play with the buttons and this will give them the idea they are in an airplane,” said Joan Evart.

Next it's onto the flight planning section.

“Whenever a flight is being planned weather is an important consideration. You need to know whether its a weather you can fly into or not so we have a practice way for the kids to learn about clouds we have pictures of and by guessing they can find out if their guess or correct,” said Linda Artman.

There is something for everyone.

“This is for our youngest fliers this exhibit is for all ages, a fun piece that little toddlers can jump in and play with.”

Just another way these Flying Grandmas are helping future generations soar to new heights.

"Team Up" says the exhibit will be ready for visitors next week Tuesday.
