Springfield- Fire crews continued monitoring the remnants of a small brush fire Sunday.
Investigators said someone called 911 just before 3:30 Sunday afternoon reporting they had heard some sort of explosion off Game Farm Road in Springfield and then saw flames.
Firefighters from Bay County, Springfield, and Forrestry officials dispatched to the scene shortly after that but told us they had trouble getting to the fire initially since it was so far back in the woods.
The said the flames spread quickly to about 10 acres. The windy conditions certainly didn't help the situation. But fire crews did eventually gain control of the blaze and said it was fully contained as of Sunday night.
"There's going to be a lot of smoke in the area, but no worries we're going be out here tonight checking on the fire. We'll have crews in the morning checking on it, but they'll keep it confined to that burned area," said Bay County Fire Rescue Lieutenant Gabriel Moschella.
The exact cause of the fire was still under investigation Sunday night.
