A Bay County man was sent to the hospital on Saturday after he allegedly shot himself in the leg by accident.
It happened at a home off East 19th Place and around 1:30.
Investigators from the Bay County Sheriff's Office say the man identified as 24 year old Mason Ray Merchant was cleaning his gun on his front porch.
Investigators say he removed the magazine from the gun, but didn't clear the chamber.
He accidentally shot himself in the knee area and may have to have surgery.
