Florida school districts can now opt to receive debit cards from the state to help buy classroom supplies.
As part of the program, debit cards will be given to each teacher in a district with a $250 amount.
But of the 67 Districts in Florida only 7 have chosen to receive them.
Bay District is not one of them, but officials say they'll be getting the money anyway.
It's the same amount of funding given every year, but this year it's just offered in another form.
Bay County District Financial Services Manager Jim Loyed says, "The only difference is whether you get a check in your hand or a debit card in your hand and those would be distributed in late November and again we felt it was better to give people a check because they'd probably already spent money on their classrooms ahead of time."
Loyed says the district might choose the debit card option next year if they're given advance notice.
