A Bay County teenager is facing some pretty serious charges for an incident that happened more than a thousand miles from here.
Bay County Sheriff's investigators arrested 16-year old Cody Blaine Jones at his McCormick Road home in Southport Friday, charging him with false report of an explosive device or weapon of mass destruction.
Authorities say Jones and a person in Broomall, Pennsylvania, worked together to report a kidnapping situation Friday.
Jones supposedly made a 911 call, claiming a man with a improvised explosive device, or IED, and an AR-15 assault rifle had taken him hostage.
The Marple Township Police Department SWAT team and bomb squad showed up and discovered it was a false report.
The prank is called "swatting."
Investigators say they identified Jons and the person in Pennsylvania as the pranksters.
An informant in the United Kingdom says Jones claims he's been involved in 40 swatting incidents.
Bay County Sheriff's Deputies arrested him last October for a similar swatting incident at bay point, involving the Sheriff's Office Swat Team.
