"Beach Blast" 2013 Power Paragliding Event Canceled

An event that brings in hundreds of people to Panama City Beach each year is now canceled.

Captain John Black says he's canceling the 5th annual "Beach Blast" because of new regulations imposed by the city council.

The powered paragliding event brings in pilots from all over the world. But after weeks of consideration, Black decided Tuesday that the show will no on this year.

"The city has been making statements about them getting more complaints than they do about Spring Break and it just makes me wonder what their next complaint will be," said Black.

However, Police Chief Drew Whitman said if complaints did happen to be called in, they would address the issues first with Black. If the complaints continued, only the city manager would be able to shut down the event.
