Bennigan's was one of the first neighborhood bar and grill type chains in America but it ran into hard times during the recession, went through bankruptcy proceedings and closed all of it's Florida locations in 2009.
Today the chain is back.
Bennigan's opened the doors to it's first Florida location in 4-years and it's first-ever in Bay County. The new restaurant is now open in the Panama City Mall.
Bennigan's is creating almost 100-new jobs in the local community.
It's offering 16 beers on tap, 12 flat screen HD TVs throughout the facility and a climate-controlled outdoor patio with a fire pit that can double as a VIP meeting room.
The General Manager, Steve Peacock praised his staff and said "I've never seen a staff, I've never had a team with more enthusiasm, more feeling, more guest focus than any other concept i've ever been around. It's just unbelieveable the last couple weeks have just been mind boggling with what's going on."
Paul Mangiamele, Bennigan's President and CEO was also on hand for the occasion and added, "We have a saying at Bennigan's. 'We bleed green' which is Irish green because we have passion. And we work 25/8 because we wanna do more than anyone else inside of food service. And the great thing about what we do, we've developed a culture that harkens back to 1976 when Bennigan's was first introuduced."
The Panama City Mall restaurant will be open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday, and until 12:00 midnight Friday and Saturday.
