More than 1,000 athletes are recovering this evening after a four hour race through the county.

Panama City Beach Police and Bay County Sheriff's Deputies patrolled areas designated for the biking and running.

In light of the recent Boston Marathon bombing events, Lt. David Baldwin says the Sheriff took extra precautions this morning - including a bomb sweep.

"This is the first year, obviously with recent events that we've utilized them directly. Indirectly we've always had an action plan that entails all aspects of any criminal issue we might have to deal with.
Earlier this morning, threats of severe weather also threatened the duration of the triathlon.
