Teresa Delaney has been teaching first grade at Callaway Elementary for 14 years.
"This is what i do for a living. I teach children. I want it to be as engaging, as bright and as beautiful as it can be, and i think through the renovations it has become that," said Delaney.
For the last year, work crews have been trying to make Callaway Elementary a better place for students, faculty and staff members to carry-out their educational mission.
The improvements start with a new entrance to the school, which makes student drop-off and pick-up safer and more convenient. There's also a new 400-seat auditorium. And, possibly the most important addition, student engaging technology.
These renovations at Callaway elementary have been on the books for several years ago. But the district kept having to postpone the project due to a lack of funding. But school officials say the better economy is bringing in more revenue from the sales tax.
In fact, the tax has raised 13 million dollars this year, a million more than expected.
