Callaway Officials Take Office

Callaway's new mayor and two newest commissioners were sworn in today during a special meeting at the Arts and Conference Center.

The new additions were greeted with loud applause as they each were sworn in. The ceremony had it's more serious moments with former commissioner Mike Jones making note that while each candidate won by 2/3 or more, that a very small percentage of the residents of Callaway actually voted. Additionally, he made a comment about the impact of 3 officials working together and being elected at the same time.

Residents of Callaway are confident in their decision though in making Bob Thompson the new mayor and David Otano and Ralph Hollister the new commissioners.

The new administration will hold it's first meeting tomorrow at 7 pm at the Arts and Conference Center. Commissioner Abbott will serve as acting mayor while Mayor Thompson prepares for the new position.

Lets see if the new Mayor & Commissioners really keep their word. If so, bye bye Judy Whitis. That would be a great START.
