The economy on the Eastside is starting to shows signs of a rebound. There are several new businesses either already under construction, or on the drawing board. Callaway officials say they have issued building permits for several new fast food restaurants and an apartment complex around Tyndall Parkway. They're excited about what's in the works, and what the new growth could mean to the area. "Great opportunity to come out around the Eastside...things are gonna start to happen," said Callaway Mayor Kenneth Meer.

Some of those businesses include a new Dunkin Donuts, AT&T, and a Dairy Queen, all located at the Galleria Shopping Center.

When the original owners broke ground on the development in June 2006, they had grand plans, but the recession derailed the majority of the complex. This new growth is welcome news to some of the Galleria’s existing businesses that have done well at that location. "Our credit union has been open over there for three years,” said David Southall, President and CEO of Innovations Federal Credit Union, “it's actually our fastest growing branch in Bay County."

This town can't take much more retail...drive another 5 mins. west, and you've got all of that, i.e. Kohl's, Sears, JCPenney, Dillard's, Target over 100 specialty stores. Support that first!
