Marianna- Chipola College selected Dr. Jason Hurst to replace a current President, Gene Prough, who recently announced his retirement.
Hurst found his way to Chipola nearly three years ago after working for several colleges in Florida and Alabama during his 20 years in education.
Hurst said becoming president was a dream come true and he had some big plans for the school's future.
"I want us to take a look at adding some programs, Hurst said. "We're adding welding this year and we're looking at a civil engineering program to possibly add for the fall. We have some availability for night programs and i want to look at that as well."
Chipola will still be on the hunt to fill a few other vacancies. Hurst has currently serves as Vice President, so the school will have to find a replacement for him.
