Coats for Kids Drive Collects More Than 1,000 Coats

Some local kids will be a little warmer this winter, thanks to your generosity.

A crew from Two Men and a Truck stopped by NewsChannel 7 Thursday morning to pick up the coats many of you have donated over the past few weeks.

Next stop was Manuel and Thompson law office downtown.

The crew then picked up a large collection of coats donated by local folks who either cleaned out their closets or went out and bought new coats for the kids.

"We all love it, it really gets you into the Christmas spirit , taking the coats in and also when people come by and need one and we're able to go through the coats and help them get something for their children or for a class at school and packing them all up and getting them ready to be distributed .It's a fun time," said Waylon Thompson.

This year more coats than ever were collected at the 36 drop -off locations around the area. More than 1,000 coats were donated.
