The Bay County Sheriff’s Office says a off-duty Panama City Beach police officer, trying to buy a laptop for sale on Craigslist, shot a man who tried to rob him instead of selling it.

Officer Neil Howard was supposed to meet a man at the Callaway Chase Apartments on Highway 22 in Callaway, to buy a laptop he had for sale. But when Howard got there about 9:45 Saturday night, something didn’t feel right. Before Howard could leave, the Sheriff’s Office says Antwan Boulware approached him with a gun and demanded money.

Howard, who was off duty at the time, pulled out a gun and fired several times.

Investigators found Boulware about an hour later at a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his legs. They charged Boulware with attempted armed robbery.
