FREEPORT - A Thanksgiving Day crash kills a mother of two young boys.

Florida Highway Patrol says Alicia Marie Forest, 23, was headed north on Hwy 331 when she was hit head on about 12:30 a.m. in Freeport.

The driver of the other vehicle, 21-year-old Samuel DePriest of Panama City Beach, had passed another car. For unknown reasons, he never got back into the southbound lane.

After hitting Forest head-on, DePriest’s disabled SUV was hit by a second car.

Forest was killed in the crash. DePriest and his passenger, 75-year-old Dorothy DePriest, were both taken to Bay Medical-Scare Heart in serious condition. The two people in the third vehicle suffered minor injuries.

According to a close friend, DePriest is a Marine and recently returned from Afghanistan.

The crash is under investigation and charges are pending.
