A Pensacola woman is charged with grand theft and possession
of marijuana after an alert Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy
spotted the shoplifting suspect in a grocery store parking lot.
The deputy heard a call for a theft in progress from the Dillard’s
at Santa Rosa Mall Saturday evening. He soon spotted a car matching the suspect car description in the Food World Parking lot
across the street.
He made contact with the female driver, 22-year old Shaquita
Booker of Pensacola. An OCSO K-9 called to the scene alerted to
the presence of narcotics inside Booker’s car. The search turned up
marijuana and bags of clothing, including nearly a thousand dollars
worth of Polo shirts believed stolen from Dillards.
Video surveillance revealed Booker had had help with the crime
from a man inside the store, but his identity is not yet known.
Deputies took possession of more than $3300.00 worth of
clothing until victims can be identified.
