Springfield police have released the names of the two victims in Friday's deadly shooting. They are 19-year-old Christopher Purswell and 22-year-old Branden Junlakan.
Purswell was shot in the head and died at the scene. Junlakan, who was shot in the face, was taken to Bay Medical/Sacred Heart and later transferred to Sacred Heart in Pensacola where he's listed in stable condition.
Investigators say Purswell and Junlakan were shot during a drug deal around 8:20 Friday night at the corner of East 8th Street and Helen Avenue.
News Channel 7's Ashley Arnold spoke to a neighbor who called 911, but wants to remain anonymous. He says he heard two gunshots and ran out to see what was going on. He saw Junlakan holding his head and Purswell lying in the street.
The man says Junlakan told him his friend had been shot, then went over and held Purswell's body and started crying.
Purswell and Junlakan were staying at the LaBrisa Inn in Parker.
Police are still looking for the two suspects.
