The 11 day lay offs for Naval Support Activity, Panama City and Tyndall Air Force Base will begin July 8th. At least 2,100 civilian employees will be impacted when the furloughs begin next month. They run through September 30th.
About 700 U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilians work at Tyndall, with furloughs scheduled through Sept. 30. There are about 1,474 people at the Navy base who will be furloughed during that time, but a Dept of Defense spokesman says there’s no guarantee the furloughs will be over September 30th, which is the last day of the federal budget year.
The cuts would reduce pay about 20 percent over the furlough period. The numbers of those furloughed could rise.
