New information in the case of a Panama City firefighter accused of shooting is ex-girlfriend in the parking lot of a Publix grocery store.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by News Channel 7, police say Joseph Moody fired a total of nine shots at Megan Pettis yesterday afternoon as she tried to drive away from him.

Two of the .45 caliber bullets hit her, one in the head and one in the leg. She remains in critical condition at Bay Medical Center.

Also in that affidavit, police say the 41-year-old firefighter confessed to shooting his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend, who he lived with until four months ago.

This afternoon, the judge set Moody's bond at $1 million on the attempted murder charge and $25,000 for discharging a firearm in public.

Panama City Assistant City Manager Jeffrey Brown told NewsChannel 7 Moody is also now on suspension. He said Moody will get paid for his 10 days of vacation time and then be placed on unpaid suspension. Brown said whether Moody ultimately loses his job depends on if he is convicted of this crime.
