Glenwood Rape Suspect Arrested

Friday afternoon PCP arrested Michael Jones Jr.

Jones was identified as a suspect in the case through forensic evidence collected by PCPD.

Jones was found at a residence on Roadrunner Road in Youngstown when he was apprehended. He is currently in custody and is being charged with sexual battery and aggravated battery.

Family members of the victim are relieved that an arrest has been made but they are still speaking out about how long it took for the investigation to begin.

The 18-year-old was attacked last Friday as she walked home from school.

Investigators say a man hit her in the head with a shovel, dragged her into some woods behind a house on Eleventh Court and sexually assault her.

The girl’s family members have voiced their concerns that it took three days for details of the crime to be made public.

They were planning to hold a rally Friday afternoon when news of the arrest came.

Shortly after the press conference held by Panama City Police was complete, the girl’s family members held a press conference of their own.

They are concerned because they say they had to take matters into their own hands by handling out flyers, and searching the area where the attack occurred.

They found the girl’s bracelet near the house, and the shovel they think was used in the track.

They turned the evidence they found over to police.
