Governor Rick Scott declared Sunday a state-wide day of prayer in Florida.
It comes in the midst of a polarizing debate of racial relations following George Zimmerman's acquittal in the killing of Trayvon Martin.
Today churchgoers responded by echoing calls for unity.
Responding to requests from protesters this week, Governor Scott refused to call a special legislative session to re-visit the state's "Stand Your Ground" law.
Scott said the controversial law would remain in place.
