Just in time for the premier of "The Dark Knight Rises," the Grand 16 at Pier Park has added a new sensation to your movie viewing experience.
The Grand 16 has added D-BOX seats to one of the theaters. The D-BOX seats allow the viewer to have an even more real-life experience.
They are specifically programmed for each film and are then sent to a motion generating system. Each seat is perfectly synchronized with the onscreen action to simulate a realistic experience.
The seats cost $4,000 each. Customers can reserve seats online and will cost an additional eight dollars on top of the base ticket price.
Grand 16's General Manager John Kampe is optimistic the seats will be a hit. "We sold out all 22 seats the first show of the day yesterday. So if that's an indication, we're gonna do well."
Kampe says the Thursday night D-BOX showings of "The Dark Knight Rises" are sold out and there are a limited number of seats available for Friday night.
