Each year, the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest gun buying day of the year. However, this year there weren't that many guns to choose from.
While sales of all firearms are up, the AR-15 and similar guns have become impossible to find. Many believe the increased demand is from buyers who want to beat a potential assault weapons ban.
As a result, Bay Guns and Gear has struggled to keep up with the demand.
"We got 5 in last week and they were basically spoken for before they got to the store," said shop manager Fred Cross. "So they were gone immediately. The lady that does our buying of guns has had a hard time getting stuff in."
Bay Guns and Gear still has ammunition for the otherwise sold out weapons, but only because they strictly ration how much they sell to each customer.
