Marianna- Marianna resident Bobby Hussey is out of a job and trying to file for workman's comp.

"You have to make a choice whether you want to drive a car or eat groceries," said Hussey.

And at the same time his wife is back in school, so times aren't exactly easy right now for the couple.

"With only one income coming in we're falling behind on bills and stuff like that," said Hussey.

And the Husseys' aren't the only ones in need of help.

Calls have been pouring in from families this past week at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Bascom as a part of the congregation's food drive.

"We're somewhere between 250 and 300 right now," said Pastor Henry Fullington.

Fullington said the idea of a food drive came about last Thanksgiving.

"I challenged the church last year that God's given us this facility and this wonderful fellowship hall and we needed to do more than what we were doing," said Fullington.

The church said families who've signed up will receive a box of foods like meat, canned goods, and other non-perishables.

"We've had folks come from Cottonwood, Cottondale call in, from Donalsonville, Grand Ridge, Cypress, so it's a big area, a lot of hurting folks in this area," said Fullington.

Folks like Hussey who said it's about more than just the food.

"I'm grateful that God still gives people around the area some help," said Hussey.

Families can sign up February 13-17 by calling 394-9188 or 394-9942.

Food pick-up will at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Bascom on February 25th and you must bring your own box and photo identification.
