Jackson County Man Charged With Battery On Law Enforcement

A man has been booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility charged with battery on a law enforcement officer among other charges.

Officials from the Marianna Police Department say they pulled Eddie Dwayne Earnest's truck over after he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign.

During the stop, the driver gave officers false information about his identity.
When investigators discovered the fake information, they went to arrest Earnest who then took off on foot.
Police say, when they caught up with him, he hit one of the officers.

He's also charged with resisting arrest with violence, being a habitual traffic offender, and obstruction by disguised person.
