PANAMA CITY- The cold is not stopping Florida state fans from getting together to cheer their team on in the biggest game of the year.
"If you just watched this past weekend with the NFL wildcard, people were in negative degree temperature, and they were having a great time. And they were cheering their team, I don't know why we can't do it here," said Paul Hankins, Florida state fan.
Monday night it's FSU versus auburn at the BCS championship game.
"Really on Monday what else are we going to watch?" said Hankins.
Thousands of fans are filling the rose bowl stadium in Pasadena, while some Panama City fans have decided to support their team from home.
"We’re going to get our sweatpants and FSU gear and sitting on our couch and cheering them on," said Siobhan Brantley, Florida state university fan.
The Florida state university Panama City campus is also hosting a big watch party for anyone supporting the Seminoles.
The event is hosted by student government and the black student union.
"We will have food, drinks, trivia, and giveaways for the crowd, we are just offering a nice warm FSU environment for the students and also come out and enjoy the BCS championship game," said Tanisha Peterson, Florida state university student.
Monday was the first day back for students at FSU and they got a special treat.
"If you contact your professor in advance due to the BCS championship game you get an excused absence for today and tomorrow," said Peterson.
