Locals Involved in I-10 Fatal Crash Blamed on Squalls and Speed

A traffic crash attributed partially Tropical Storm Debby has killed Panama City man and his expectant wife was injured. It happened in a traffic crash on Interstate 10 in Madison County near the community of "Lee".

Killed in the crash was 26 year old Drew Maclean. His wife, Allison Husfelt Maclean, 26, is the daughter of Bay County School Supt. Bill Husfelt. She sustained serious injuries. She is expecting in 6 weeks and friends of the family say initial reports are she and the baby will be OK. She was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Medical Center and is listed in serious condition.

The crash happened on I-10 at Mile Marker #259 in Madison County midway between Tallahassee and Lake City as one of Tropical Storm Debby’s squalls was moving thru that area shortly after noon.

Troopers say Maclean was driving west on Interstate 10 shortly afternoon Monday at speeds too fast for conditions when the family’s pick up truck left the highway went into a spin and then overturned several times before the roof crashed into a tree.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
