A Springfield man is in critical condition after being stabbed in Cottondale early Saturday morning.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies and Cottondale Police responded to citizen reports of a stabbing in the area of US 231 and Springfield Road north of Cottondale near the state line.

The victim was identified as 43 year old Cedric Maurice Cameron n of 109 Detroit Ave in Springfield. He was stabbed a number of times and was taken first to Jackson Hospital in Marianna and was then transferred to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Police arrested the suspect in the case, Jacqueline Jackson and charged her with attempted murder. Jackson resided with the victim on Detroit Ave in Springfield.

She’s now in the Jackson County Jail in Marianna.

Investigations say the two had been in an argument which escalated into the easly Saturday stabbing.
