Memorial Day Crowds Fill Panama City Beach

While we were at work this Memorial Day, most people were out celebrating the day and their long weekend.
Memorial Day is the official start of summer in Panama City Beach and everyone from business owners to those working beach side service are pleased with the turn out, and a little exhausted.
It was Daylin Pitts' second day on the job and he has learned that Memorial Day weekend is definitely one of the busiest weekends to start working beach side service.
"It's been really busy, really stressful,” said Pitts.
“But we've got the work done."
He works with Austin, who has been on the beach for three years.
He said this year is busy, but not like he has seen in the past.
"This is really the kick-off for summer,” said Austin Woityra. “This is a moderate crowd, it's not too packed. But it's nice families, people have been working hard to come down to the beach."
Families like the Lamb's who came all the way from Greenville, Tennessee.
"It is so pretty compared to what it was in Myrtle Beach,” Beverly Lamb said laughing.
Just down the road at Shipwreck Island the place was packed.
Officials at the park said it was right on par with past Memorial Day's.
"It's the beginning of summer for us, we're here everyday until mid-August when school starts again," said Buddy Wilkes, the general manager at Shipwreck Island.
Officials at the TDC also said they were pleased with the Memorial Day weekend turn-out and said it was comparable to past years.
