Missing Southport Girl Now Classified as Runaway

Police believe they have a lead on a local girl who disappeared about 2 weeks ago.

Pam Massimiani says she came home on Saturday April 13th to find her daughter 14-year old Emily Paul, gone.

Since she says it was not like Emily to run away, she reported the teen missing.

Law enforcement issued statewide alerts asking people to report any information, but Bay County Sheriff's Investigators now say they have received reliable evidence, indicating Paul is in our area, and is unharmed.

They say they'll continue searching for her, but are now classifying her as a runaway.

"You can get the public jaded to seeing pictures of missing kids to where they don't really take it seriously. We are always very wary of that because we want the cases that are most serious, for example an active abduction; we want those to be taken real serious," said Investigator Albert Willis with the Bay County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities say Paul did leave a note saying that she was running away
