Motorcyclist Dies from Bridge Crash Injuries

A local man, critically injured Wednesday night in a motorcycle crash on the Hathaway Bridge, has died.

Panama City Police say 34 year old Steven Smith died about 6:30 Thursday evening at Bay Medical Center.

Smith suffered serious head injuries when he and fellow biker, 27-year old Daniel Lemon collided in the westbound lanes of the bridge. Police say Smith clipped the back of Lemon's motorcycle a little after 9:00, causing Smith to fall off of his bike. They also say he was not wearing a helmet.

Lemon managed to stay on his motorcycle and he wasn't injured.

Police say Smith was surrounded by his family and his doctors when he died Thursday night.
