Movers for Moms

Moms all around the world will soon be getting flowers and other presents for Mother’s Day but moms who are forced to live in shelters because of domestic abuse or homelessness don't always get that recognition.

This year they're not being forgotten.

More than 415 schools from 31 states are working to collect items to donate to moms in shelters.

As part of the "Two Men and a Truck" movers for moms program students at Springfield Elementary School collected soap, shampoo and other toiletries to show their love for moms in crisis.

There are more than 115 shelters across the country that will benefit from the drive including moms at the local Bethel Village.

“Get together as a community and provide something that these moms haven't been able to provide for themselves or their kids can't really participate in because of money or for whatever reason and this kind of, you know, includes them in that group and it helps them have a great mother's day that they deserve," said Rebekah Martinez.

Three out of every 10 women in the United States will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
