The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man they say led one of their deputies on a police chase in a stolen bread truck.

According to the arrest report, 24-year old Matthew Lambert of Niceville stole a bread truck on New Year’s Day from the Fill Ups Food Store on Emerald Coast Parkway in Destin.

A deputy spotted the truck headed north on State Road 293. But Lambert refused to pull over. He ran a red light at State Road 20. The chase ended when he turned into the Whataburger on SR 20 and crashed into a drainage ditch.

Lambert is charged with resisting arrest, grand theft of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The bread truck sustained approximately $8000 in damages.
