One person died Sunday in Panama City Beach after investigators said a vehicle slammed into him. Very few details were available Sunday night as Bay County Sheriff's officals and Florida Highway Patrol troopers continued to investigate how this deadly accident happened.

They said they received 911 calls from eyewitnesses and neighbors just after 6:00 p.m. and rushed to the scene at Joan Avenue and Houston Street, right up the road from the NewsChannel 7 studios.

The victim was reportedly a male, his age and ethnicity unknown as of Sunday night. And no word as to what he was doing prior to the crash, although lack of light may have had something to do with it. That portion of Joan Avenue is very dark. Neighbors said it's a dangerous strip of road.

"I think it upsets anybody when someone gets killed," Neighbor Jimmy Wilson told NewsChannel 7's Bryan Anderson.

"What do you want to see happen? You want some more lights put in here?" asked Anderson.

"That would be lovely. We would really like to have more lights, yes," Wilson answered.
