It was a gruesome murder that shocked the Cove neighborhood 23 years ago, and the man convicted of the crime will stay on Florida’s death row.
Thursday morning, the Florida Supreme Court reaffirmed its denial of Mark Allen Geralds motion to overturn his first-degree murder conviction.
Geralds murdered Cove housewife Tressa Pettibone at her home in February 1989, in fact it was 23 years ago yesterday.
The defense appealed saying the F-D-L-E crime lab testing notes were not made available to the original defense. But the court disagreed.
Geralds remains on death row at Raiford Prison at Starke awaiting execution.

Kill the worthless scum. I remember this very well. I worked at a runaway shelter on Cove Blvd, and lived above it. The woman's kids came home from school and found her. Horrible. To Madge, this trash doesnt deserve correction, and probably cant be corrected. He deserves death. Would you hire him to work in YOUR home? I think that is how he came upon his victim, doing odd jobs for her. I doubt you would want that, because you have been warned he is a murderer. His victim didnt have that luxury.
I am not necessarily FOR the death penalty NOR am I against it(catch 22 really) but I think that if you are on death row, your family should be responsible for feeding you and putting money into an account for you. Don't allow them to live off the government or anyone else (maybe all those foreign countries with more severe punishments for crimes are on to something????)
I cant believe the state of Florida still lets this monster breath. He killed a mother knowing her children would find her. Her 8 year old son did and has never been the same.
