Bethel Village is an extension of the Panama City Rescue Mission. The mission has many programs in place that a lot of people don't know about. Not only do they house and feed the homeless but there are programs that help those people get back on their feet.
One is called Pathways Christian Recovery Ministries, which held graduation ceremonies with the largest class in the rescue missions' 41 year history.
The ceremony celebrated the struggles and hope and of 6 men and 3 women who are moving on to the next phase after completing the long term addiction recovery program.
The program not only helps the addict but also helps restore broken family bonds.
The graduates say it was a long road but well worth it.
"It's just like I said in the very beginning. It's something you don't stop. It's just the very beginning of a whole new way of living," said Woody Chance.
Completion of the program shows that they are successfully moving on to become contributing members of the larger community.
