Bay District School officials took another step Wednesday in their effort to explore privatization.
They reviewed the proposals from four transportation companies, bidding to take over the district’s bus system. School district officials are trying to find out if outsourcing transportation and other departments like food services can save money.
Durham School Services, First Student, Go Ahead North America, and School Transportation Companies all submitted proposals. The bids all fall within the $6 million to $9 million dollar range, which is in line with current operating costs.
The Bay Educational Support Personnel Association, which represents non-instructional district employees are against the move toward privatization.
