Charges against the Panama City firefighter accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend will be upgraded to murder.
Police say 24-year-old Megan Pettis was pronounced clinically deceased Wednesday night. She’s currently on life support so her organs can be donated.
41-year-old say Joseph Moody is accused of firing nine shots at Pettis Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Publix on 23rd street as she tried to drive away. One of the bullets hit her in the head.
Wednesday afternoon, the judge set Moody’s bond at $1 million on the attempted murder charge and $25,000 for discharging a firearm in public. Detectives are meeting with the State Attorney’s Office about amending the charges to murder.
Pettis’ family has asked everyone to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
