A sad note concerning the passing of a man who spent a fair amount of his career coaching 'em up in this region!
Ted Cooper died Wednesday at his home in Bay County after a short illness.
Cooper was the first head coach of Rutherford's start up program in 1961, he coached the Rams until 1969.
Before coming to the new school in Springfield, Cooper was first then head coach at Carrabelle for three years, then at 7 seasons as the head coach at Blountstown high school.
Cooper was born in raised in Rosinton Alabama in 1922. He joined the Army out of high school, played football for his brigade team in the service. Then got a football scholarship at Livingston College, and followed that up with a masters degree from Mississippi College.
Coach Cooper is survived by his wife, three children, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
