JACKSON COUNTY-- Some Jackson County employees are looking to unionize. Employees with the Road and Bridge Department recently sent out a petition addressing the plan.
In late June, employees with the department handed the petition to county commissioners.
They have until the end of this month to file an answer.
Not many details have been made available on the union, but commissioners are currently working with legal counsel to address the issue.
Department officials say unionizing could possibly happen, but have no idea what's going on.
"I have not talked to any of the employees here at the Road Department about that, none of them have shared their desire or wishes to create, or be part of a union,” Road and Bridge Department Supervisor Al Green said. "So honestly and truthfully I really don't know anything about it."
The petition stated a hearing must be held as well, no word on when that date will be.
